It's spring time on the farm
Fields will be getting clear, crops will be planted, and the grass will get greener. As the weather warms, you see an increase in activity among the animals, which is a welcomed increase in work for the farmers. With the extra sunshine, comes longer days too… longer, beautiful days (as soon as the recent cold crisp mornings break for good). This is a good thing for maintenance too, as some of the projects that went to the back burner throughout the cold winter, can now be taken care of. Although farming is not the easiest job, and often times is a gamble, seeing the farm flourish is a reward that is unmatchable.
As you’ve probably heard a thousand times, farmer’s job is NEVER finished.
If you haven’t checked in with us in a while, we will give you some quick updates. We are growing! We are selling out at markets, and keeping up with our online orders and deliveries. We even hope to be offering beef by the end of the summer.
As for the farm, it’s baby season! We have a new baby calf, and there will be more on the way soon. These cows love eat eat (no pun intended). How adorable is this picture?
Oh, and lots of little piglets running around too! The picture below was taken a few weeks ago. These little ones are almost ready to wean off of mama, and will be ready for their new homes.
Spring & summer time is for bees - check out this picture of the first swarm of the year! That means honey will be coming soon, and the “bee farm” is one of our favorite parts of our operation.
As always, we welcome our followers to come for a tour. You can also submit an order online for pickup on the farm - www.undergroundfarmers.com
Farming takes a lot of hard work, and a lot of praying too! We are even blessed to have those “April showers”.
He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows. - Isaiah 30:23
